Easton School District has been awarded a $411,000 Clean Energy Community Grant to install a
solar panel system at the school. Clean Energy Community Grant awards are provided via
funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce. Easton plans to install a 66.6 KW AC photovoltaic solar panel system at the school to help lower ongoing utility costs, decrease carbon emissions, and serve as a teaching tool in classrooms.
Superintendent Aaron Kombol shared, “We are very excited to have been awarded this grant. Not only will the District be able to reduce its ongoing utility bills, but we will also be able to incorporate solar panel system technology into our STEM classes. We anticipate that the system will provide upwards of 25-30% of our electrical needs and hope that installation can begin this Spring, allowing us to maximize utility cost savings and, in turn, offer more opportunities for our students.”
