Grades K-6 expanded learning in the great outdoors on May 14. Surrounded by snow capped mountains they gathered upon Mother Earth to celebrate those that have called our valleys and lands their home, “Since Time Immemorial”.
The afternoon was filled with the sounds of laughter as they erected a large teepee, created and listened to the soothing magic of rain sticks, constructed paper shelters and decorated them with ancient native hieroglyphics. They tried their hands at basket weaving, feasted on fried bread and danced. Friday concluded a week of learning based on increasing knowledge of our Native sisters & brothers. It was such a success one student asked, “Can we do this again next week?
