Dear Easton Community:
As this is my first “official” day on the job, I wanted to “officially” introduce myself.
My name is Aaron Kombol and I have been selected by the Easton School District Board of Directors to serve as the next Superintendent/Principal. I also want to share how much I am looking forward to being part of the Easton community.
First of all, I want to thank the Board of Directors for giving me the opportunity to become the next Superintendent/Principal of Easton School District. It is an honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of leadership and something that I never take lightly. I’d also like to thank Mr. Berndt and the Easton staff for their ongoing hard work and dedication to the school which allows me to step into a great situation as an incoming administrator.
I most recently served as Superintendent/Principal of Onion Creek School District in NE Washington. Leaving Onion Creek was not an easy choice but the chance to work at Easton was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I declined to follow up on several other opportunities as I want to be here working with the staff and students at Easton. Prior to my time at Onion Creek, I spent the previous five years working overseas in Saudi Arabia as a school administrator. Saudi was certainly not on my radar for my first international post! I served in two very unique, challenging, diverse school settings, and have some very interesting stories to share!. Our family very much enjoyed our time overseas, but all of us found ourselves wanting to return “home” to Washington. Prior to my time overseas, I worked in the Ferndale School District for 16 years in a variety of different administrative positions.
With the reductions of many of the COVID guidelines, I am looking forward to reconnecting the school to the community. As you know, for the past two plus years, we have been limited on what we could and could not do due to these guidelines. I am also excited to once again have volunteers back in our classrooms along with increasing the number of our students involved in our activities and athletics. I’m looking forward to having Easton School District once again being the hub of activity for the community.
On the personal side, my wife Rita and I make our home in Bellingham and have been married for 25 years. Rita is a school counselor in the Bellingham School District. We have two wonderful daughters, Lauren and Morgan. My oldest daughter Lauren, recently transferred to Central after finishing up her college lacrosse career at Eastern Oregon University. Lauren will be a Senior and is studying Elementary Education. Our youngest, Morgan, will be a Junior at Meridian High School and is active in lacrosse, cheerleading, volleyball and FFA.
In closing, I am very excited to embark on this new part of my career and join the Easton team. Over the course of the Summer, I will be working with the staff, and the school board regarding my transition to Easton and to have everything in place for your students in September.
I look forward to meeting you and all of us working together to make Easton School District the best we can for our students. Throughput the Summer, I will be monitoring my email a bit less than normal as we have several family trips planned but if you have any questions, concerns, or you just want to say hello please email me kombola@easton.wednet.edu
Thank you and Go Jags!
Aaron Kombol
